She is among the top fashion bloggers in India with over 137K followers on Instagram. She has collaborated with top brands and owns a blog with her own name.

Advice:

  • “Create your best content.
  • Don’t assume you’ll start earning right from the beginning.
  • Be consistent with your content – how regularly you put it out and it’s quality.
  • Be professional, don’t waste people’s time and don’t tolerate your own time being wasted.
  • Write complete words and sentences, you’re hopefully going to be running your own business and writing slang words is not going to get you anywhere. ‘Babe’ is not how you should be addressing anybody in the industry.
  • Believe in your work, pursue brands that you know fit well with your tonality of work and always show initiative.
  • Collaborate with other bloggers. It’s good to maintain a healthy relationship with your competition.
  • Try not to talk about people behind their back, it’s a very small industry even though it may seem big.”

  • Find a niche of something you want to see or watch.
  • Be passionate about what you want to share because it should not feel like work, in the beginning.
  • Do it for the fun of it and if popularity and opportunities find you, then that’s great. It should never be your main motive though.”

“Before you even start writing your first post, think about why you want to do this. What do you hope to accomplish? What can you offer that no one else already has? Finding a niche, finding your voice is what will really draw readers in. Also, always spell correctly and do grammar checks on your pieces before you publish. Send them to your friends, read them out loud, make sure you’re not making any simple errors that can really distract people from appreciating what you’re trying to communicate.”

“And, in a piece of general life advice for anyone wanting to work in the fashion industry – be kind. Kindness will get you much further in this industry, and people will remember how you treat them. You don’t know who might offer you your big break, next opportunity, etc., and that intern today could be your future boss. So be kind, and don’t ever talk shit about people…you never know who’s listening!”

Advice:

“The one piece of advice that I would give to anyone looking to start a blog is to be persistent with it. It’s going to be a long time before things settle down and get going, or even years before they take off, and many bloggers end up quitting before a year has passed, so definitely do it for the right reasons as you will be in it for the long haul. It’s not a quick and easy career choice at all. As long as you have passion and dedication, and keep to your own unique content, you should be fine!”

She is a plus size fashion blogger, LGBTQ influencer, writer, designer and professional speaker based in Cleveland. She was named as one of the ‘most interesting people’ of 2018 by Cleveland Magazine for her contribution to body positivity along with her fiance Giovonni Santiago, a transgender advocate.

Advice:

“My advice to anyone that wants to start a fashion blog is to think about why you want to start it. Think about what message you have to communicate and how are you going to communicate it. DO NOT start a fashion blog because you want free clothes. Running a successful fashion blog takes a lot of time, energy and patience and ultimately, if you’re only in it for money, you will burn out before you ever start to make any. For me, my passion for social change drives my content. I want to make fashion a more inclusive and accepting place for plus size people. At the end of the day knowing that I am working towards that goal motivates me more than anything.”

28) Marnie Goldberg

A post shared by Marnie Goldberg | MsGoldgirl® (@msgoldgirl) on

She owns a Youtube channel with over 100,000 subscribers. Her blog MS Gold Girls, as she says is a ‘Grown-up’s guide to life’.The 45-year old fashion and lifestyle blogger is also a wife, mother, volunteer, and former elementary school teacher/reading specialist living in San Antonio.

Advice:

“You first have to ask yourself, why do you want to do it? If the answer is that you’re looking for a creative outlet, you think you have something unique to share, and you think it would be fun, then those are all valid reasons to start one. If your answer is something like “I want to be Internet famous”, “I want to make money” then my advice would be to find something else to do. While this career choice is incredibly rewarding as a creative outlet and a place to meet people with similar interests, it’s also very saturated with people who want fame and fortune. Those are not the people who generally do well in this space. A genuine love for this space and an interest in communicating your expertise will do you well in starting a fashion blog. My other advice is to really become a student of the platform. Study what other blogs are doing, learn what software, applications, etc they’re using. Know what you like and what you don’t like before you start writing. And finally, most importantly for down the road, immediately make sure your name/social handle is available across Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, and Pinterest and make them yours ASAP!”
